Sports...

Whats with Sports that gets people so riled up? Why do we get so "caught up", so absorbed, into our favorite sports team? Why are we excited when they win, depressed when they fail? Why do forsake sleep and stay up late to watch our team try to win in extra innings, only to see them lose, and lose miserably? Thank you Eric Gagne and the Red Sox on Saturday night. Why do we love it when our team dominates the other team? Thank you Patriots for *crushing* the Cowboys.

When Tom Brady throws 5 touchdowns, its great. We take great pride in being associated with the Patriots and Tom Brady. With being associated with a winner. And not only a winner, a dominant winner. Did we just go out there and throw 5 TDs? No. Do we even have the skill to be on that field? No. So we live through the lives of our favorite sports team. They do what we cannot do and that makes us great.

Now of course its exciting to watch a close game. Its also exciting to watch players make diving catches or bone-jarring tackles too. And its also fun to brag about your team to another person, after your team beat their team. Yup, even though we show a lot of stupid emotion over a "game", sports are still great. Even after Tom Brady has come and gone, I'll still watch the Patriots, win or lose. And even after Manny and Big Papi retire, I'll still be a Red Sox fans...

Weird Dream

I had this weird dream the other night. I was on a spaceship just above Earth. The spaceship was fairly large and oddly enough, saucer shaped. Well the ship was hit and about to blow up, so everybody had to evacuate. So I went to go get into an en escape pod. The escape pod was a cylinder, about 7 feet tall or so, with a revolving door inside of it, with 3 sections, with enough room for one person inside each section. (Imagine a pie cut into 3 equal pieces) A friend of mine got inside, pushed the door so a child could get into the next section, which would leave one section left for me. But for some reason I got into the section with the small child. And then, strangely enough, I had a small blanket over my head. I think at the time I thought it would help me breathe or something (told you it was weird). So they shut the door to the escape pod, and there was no lights, and no oxygen!! I remember thinking how in the world will we make it to Earth! They jettisoned us and we fell toward Earth, with me gasping for air the whole time, with of course, a towel/blanket over my head. Finally we landed/crashed (not sure) with a bunch of other escape pods and I got out and was finally able to breath. I looked up to the sky and I saw that the other escape pods had long tubes running from them to the spaceship. The tubes were for oxygen!! Thats why I couldn't breath...

Such a weird dream. As I thought about it afterwards, it didn't even make sense, as most dreams don't. Incredibly stupid escape pod design. Revolving doors? No lights? No padding or straps? Then whats with the tubes connecting to the spaceship for oxygen? Why didn't they burn up in the atmosphere when we fell to Earth? And they are long enough to reach from space to Earth's surface?
